ETA for heading home

Just finished rounds with the doctors. Everything continues to go well with both kids. They just got an echocardiogram, which was exciting to see since it was the first chance we've had to see the radical improvement to their hearts. We could see the patch created by Dr. Jonas and the two sets of valves working properly. The most impressive thing was that the blue and the red blood were no longer mixed! We'll get the official interpretation of the echo in about two hours, which may help us understand whether there is significant valve regurgitation.

Meemaw and Baba spent the night with us last night and took care of the girls for the 12:30 and 3:30AM feedings. Evelyne and I slept through like rocks. I didn't even wake up when Margot was shrieking (after spitting up) at the 3:30 feeding! Guess we needed some sleep.

The girls continue to meet their input/output goals and both of them pooped this morning, which is a good sign their GI systems are back on track.

During rounds, the doctors had good things to say and they're not concerned about either kid's situation. Based on that, and with continued good behavior, they think we'll be heading home some time tomorrow! Dr. Jonas has the final word, of course, but they felt like there's a good chance of getting discharged Saturday. We're TOTALLY excited to get the girls home. Needless to say, there will be a happy hour at the Baumrucker's house tomorrow night!

We had several visitors yesterday including Uncle Byron, Aunt Heather, and Cousin Zoe (she had to stay in the playroom, which was just fine with her!). Uncle Byron made an incredible video of the girls' baptism last Sunday that we'll share with you all on the site as soon as I get the softcopy of the video. It's a beautify way to share our experience. Special thanks to Uncle Byron for filming and assembling the video! Iain, Stacy, Emma, and Ailey Gold stopped by to say hi (same playroom excursion for their girls since they don't really allow kids under 12 in here). Cousin John and Uncle Jody stopped by, as did Uncle George and Aunt Pam. It was really great to see everyone!

We've been cared for so well here at Children's and we'll miss all of our doctors and nurses when we go. But, we can't wait to be home!
