TRUE Celebrations!
Tate and I just got back home from a much needed one-on-one celebratory sushi dinner. Aside from yesterday's half hour lunch break, it is the first time we have been alone to reflect on our emotions for a very long time. Our house is empty which means that Mom and Dad Parizek have left for the hospital to relieve Mom and Dad Baumrucker for the over night shift (last night in the hospital). None of us are comfortable leaving the girls unattended even for a moment, especially when they are awake.
Over dinner, Tate and I were looking back over the last week and remembering... It's so hard to describe how far we have come. For example, just over a week ago I slept through the early morning feeding. I was beside myself because I missed the girls' feeding by one hour. We could still fit 7 feedings in that day, but I had failed in pushing those much needed calories into them on schedule. That's pretty telling of the amount of pressure we were under to keep up with the care.
All in all, we couldn't ask for a more positive result. We are so grateful for the amazing skills of our surgeons, the exemplary care we have received from all of the doctors and nurses at Children's, the power of collective prayers and positive energy from all of you, and the love and strength of our family! We are very much looking forward to bringing our girls home and moving through the next stage of recovery!! If all goes well, we'll be able to join the rest of the world in 4-6 weeks. Can't wait to pack up the diaper bag again with some cute outfits for the girls
