It has indeed been a long time since we've updated this here blog. "How are those girls of yours doing?" seems to be the question of the day. The answer is GREAT! Last we wrote, the kids were on the mend after their miraculous surgery. Now, life is sorta normal. At least for people with twin babies! Mommy and the girls are busy with therapies of all kinds including speech, occupational, physical, and special instruction. The good news is that the girls have hit ALL of their physical and developmental milestones to date. We're very excited.

They are able to sit up in their bumbo seats (see pictures) and can stand completely on their own if you hold their hands for balance. Their therapists are completely amazed with them. We're working very hard right now to develop their shoulder muscles, since they missed so much tummy time after surgery.

Medically, they're in great shape too. Last check the doctors looked for thyroid disorders (common in DS kids), but found only normal indications for both girls. They are still small for their age, but are unusually long kids. We've had more than a couple sad moments putting 0-3 month clothes away because these urchins are growing like weeds! We went to demand feeding a long time ago and dropped the formula supplement too. The girls are sleeping well and sometimes give us up to 7 hours of rest, if you can believe it! Usually they hit the sack for the night around 11 or midnight and sleep to 6 or 7 AM. Ahh, sleep, we missed you so!

Much as happed with our family since the last time we wrote. Highlights include our first roadtrips to State College to see Great Grandma Gray for the first time, and to see Cousin Maddie and Cousin Charlie for the first time too. The family has grown while we've been away from the blog. Aunt Pam and Uncle George and Cousin Amelia and Kyle got a new baby brother, Spencer on May 3rd. You can see pictures of him and all of our adventures at the link above.

Evelyne heads back to work at the end of the month. We've got mixed feelings about it, but it makes sense for a lot of reasons ... We're in the hunt for a nanny at this point and think we may have found the right person.

We get out and about a lot now that the girls can safely socialize with others. It's been very liberating for us to hang out with our family and friends. There's so much more I'm forgetting now, but our life has been so FULL over the past two months. Life it good again. The stress of our initial shock and their heart conditions has blown away like a big dark cloud. Onward and upward, that's what we say! How about you?
